LDC Radio 97.8FM (Leeds Dance Community Radio Ltd) in Leeds, West Yorkshire and each local radio station in the UK has requirements in respect of its music and local content, such as news, speech ratio, etc. These requirements are set out in the station “Format”, a document issued by Ofcom, the UK’s radio regulator. This Public File contains details of the elements that Ofcom regulate, such as music and news. It is intended to give you a better understanding of our output.

Note: Listen Again services, online versions of the station including variances as well as video content supplied by LDC Radio 97.8FM has no requirement for a public file.

Ofcom

Ofcom, the Office of Communications, is the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries, with responsibilities across television, radio, telecommunications and wireless communications services. Ofcom has published reports and regulations on community radio, which we abide by.

Format

All local radio stations have written ‘formats’, laid down by Ofcom, that they must follow at all times. For LDC Radio 97.8FM, ours is linked from this page on the Ofcom website.

Operational Information

LDC Radio 97.8FM is a community station, available 24 hours a day and aimed at the dance music community. LDC Radio 97.8FM schedule is broadcast on FM across Leeds, West Yorkshire and live via the internet.

LDC Radio 97.8FM provides ‘alternative’ output and allows members of the community to broadcast on the station following the submission of a demo and training. Our key commitments hold details on the type of programming we are expected to produce.

LDC Radio 97.8FM output is automated overnight and, when required, some shows may be pre-recorded or repeated.
