I started listening to music on a deeper level when I was 16, and quickly developed an eclectic taste; always in search for the perfect track with no limits.
Born and bred in York, the music scene favored indie rock which I became interested in but quickly left this behind for wider sounds. I always pinpoint my first real love for music coming from disco & funk, which commenced my dedication to collecting vinyl. Not satisfied with listening to one style, I started consuming hip hop and jazz – recognising how notable producers like DJ Premier or J Dilla were obsessives of deep digging, searching for samples and seeking influences outside of the status quo.
Ever since this point, I have been on a sonic journey with one mantra in mind: that all genres and styles are linked in some sort of way. I put this idea to the test during lock down in 2020, starting a radio show before realising that this would be my true passion within music. I particular hold high regards to new music, and I truly believe following this is important if you wish to remain current.
Now based in Leeds, I regularly play in bars / clubs around the city – holding a monthly residency at Eat Your Greens, whilst also making appearances at other venues ranging from Belgrave Music Hall to Chow Down. My selector skills are heavily influenced by DJs like Theo Parrish and Floating Points, alongside being further influenced by club nights like Cosmic Slop and formerly Rhumboogie. You can expect me to play anything ranging from post-punk, UK garage, drill, bossa nova, rnb and much more.
I am excited to continue the There Are No Genres journey onto LDC Radio, presenting every Saturday morning 7:00-9:00 and providing selections with an uptempo beat for the people of West Yorkshire.
