LDC Radio 97.8FM is run by Leeds Dance Community Radio Ltd and broadcasts under a community radio licence from Ofcom, the UK’s communications regulator. Every community radio licence includes Key Commitments: a short document, published by Ofcom, that sets out the character of the service and what the station must do for its community. This Public File explains what our licence asks of us and how our output meets it.

Ofcom
Ofcom, the Office of Communications, is the independent regulator for the UK’s communications industries, including radio. Community radio stations are licensed under the Community Radio Order 2004, and everything we broadcast must follow the Ofcom Broadcasting Code. Ofcom lists every licensed community radio station on its community radio stations page.
Our licence and Key Commitments
Our licence number is CR102239 and our licence runs until 19 May 2030. Ofcom publishes our licence details, Key Commitments and coverage map on its Leeds Dance Community Radio licence page.
Our Key Commitments say that LDC Radio is for people in Leeds who are interested in dance music. It is a platform for a range of dance music genres, including unreleased music from local artists, and it offers broadcasting training and open access to that community. Our studio is in the licensed area, members of our community help run the station, and we are accountable to the people we serve.
Operational Information
LDC Radio 97.8FM is a community station for the dance music community, on air 24 hours a day. Ofcom licenses our 97.8 FM service for the City of Leeds, and it can be heard more widely across West Yorkshire. You can also listen on DAB in Leeds and Bradford, online at ldcradio.co.uk, on the LDC Radio app for iPhone and Android, and on Alexa. See how to listen.
LDC Radio 97.8FM gives local people open access to the airwaves. Anyone in our community can apply to present a show by filling in our DJ application form and sending us a demo (see Get involved), and new and emerging DJs can apply for a guest slot on LDC Introducing. We offer presenters training in how the station and the studio work. Our Key Commitments set out the type of service we are expected to provide.
When no presenter is on air, including weekday nights between 1am and 6am and some daytime hours, LDC Radio plays non-stop music automatically. Some shows are pre-recorded, including the weekend overnight shows from international DJs, and some shows may be repeated.
News
LDC Radio is a music-led station. News bulletins are not one of our Key Commitments, and there are no news programmes in our current schedule.

LDC Radio 97.8FM often works with the community to help promote events and local charities.

You can see our FM coverage on Ofcom’s coverage map for our licence (PDF). The smaller area on the map is our licensed coverage area; the larger ‘audible zone’ is where the signal can usually be heard. Our media pack has more about where and how people listen.
DAB
LDC Radio 97.8FM is also on DAB digital radio in Leeds and Bradford. If we are not in your radio’s station list yet, run a full scan (auto-tune).
