Branding and logo design in Leeds, built to work on screen, on the street and on air

LDC is a branding agency in Leeds for businesses that want to look and sound like themselves wherever customers meet them: a website, a shop sign, a van, a social feed and, because we are also a radio station, an advert on 97.8 FM. We design the logo, colours, type and the rules that hold them together.

Our registered office is on Mabgate in Leeds, and we work with businesses across Leeds, West Yorkshire and beyond. The team that designs your identity can also build it into your website and put it on air. Call 07540725926 or tell us about your brand.

A logo is not a brand

A logo is one mark. A brand identity is the whole kit that makes you recognisable when the logo is nowhere in sight: the colour of a van in traffic, the tone of a reply to a review. Good logo design matters, but the mark works far harder when everything around it pulls the same way.

  • The logo in several versions, for a wide banner, a square profile picture and a tiny browser tab.
  • A small colour palette with exact values for screen and print.
  • A voice: how you write and speak, from a headline to a quote email.
  • Guidelines that let anyone, from a new starter to a printer, use it without guessing.

Refresh or rebrand?

A refresh keeps what customers already recognise and fixes what lets it down: a redrawn mark, tidier colours, files that stay crisp when small. A rebrand starts again, and earns its cost when the business itself has changed. If a refresh is all you need, we will say so.

What a branding project includes

  • Logo suite

Main, horizontal and stacked versions, an icon for small spaces, and light, dark and single-colour versions of each.

  • Colour palette

Screen values (hex and RGB) and print values (CMYK, and Pantone where needed), so your blue stays your blue.

  • Typography

Typefaces that read well on a phone and on paper, with fallbacks for email.

  • Brand guidelines

A short, usable guide: clear space, minimum sizes, colour use and examples of your voice.

  • Social templates and profile images

Profile and cover images for each platform, plus post templates so your feed stays consistent.

  • Stationery

Business cards, a letterhead and an email signature.

  • Signage and vehicle direction

How the logo sits on a fascia, a van or a uniform. Finished artwork is graphic design work, which we also do.

A brand that works on the radio

Your brand has a sound as well as a look, and on the radio the sound is all there is. We run a station, so we think about it. LDC Radio broadcasts on 97.8 FM, licensed for the City of Leeds, on DAB in Leeds & Bradford, and online, on the app and on Alexa.

How the name sounds read aloud

Some names are easy to read and hard to say. We can test yours the way a listener meets it: spoken once, at speed, with no spelling to look at.

A strapline and a sound

A strapline has to survive being said twice inside a 30-second advert and still leave room for the offer. We also set the direction for idents and jingles: pace, voice and music feel. How a campaign runs is on how radio advertising works in Leeds.

How a branding project runs

  1. Listen

We talk about your business, customers, competitors and every place the brand will appear, by phone, video call or in person in Leeds.

  2. Direction

Moodboards and a short positioning note on who you’re for and how you differ. We agree it before a logo is drawn.

  3. Concepts and refinement

You choose one of the routes we present, and we refine it through the feedback rounds agreed at the start.

  4. Final files and guidelines

Every version in every format you need, with colour values, typefaces and a guide your suppliers can follow.

  5. Roll-out

We apply it to your website, Google Business Profile, social profiles and campaign creative, or hand it to your team with notes.

Your brand online, file by file

Online, your brand lives in a handful of small files that nobody notices until one looks wrong. When we build the website too, all of them go in as part of the build:

  • Favicon and app icons: the tiny image in a browser tab or on a phone home screen. A detailed logo turns to mush that small.
  • SVG and PNG logos in light, dark and one-colour versions. SVG stays sharp at any size; PNG suits tools that refuse SVG; the light version stops your logo vanishing on dark backgrounds.
  • Open Graph share images: the picture shown when someone pastes your link into WhatsApp or LinkedIn. Without one, the platform picks something itself.
  • Google Business Profile images, often the first thing a local customer sees in Maps.
  • An email signature with live text, so it never arrives as a blocked image.

What affects the cost of branding

Scope matters most. These move the figure:

  • Logo, identity or roll-out

A logo alone is the smallest job; a full identity with roll-out is the largest.

  • Naming and strategy

Help with the name, or with who the brand is for, comes before any design.

  • Concepts and rounds

More routes and feedback rounds mean more design time. We agree both up front.

  • Touchpoints

Every extra place, from a vehicle wrap to a radio ident, needs its own version and checks.

  • Refresh or fresh start

Keeping what customers recognise is usually less work than starting from nothing.

  • Deadline

A fixed opening or launch date can mean more hands on it at once.

Tell us what you need and we’ll quote for an agreed scope, so you know what is included before work starts. Call 07540725926 or use the enquiry form.

How long branding takes

We agree the timeline at the start, based on scope. A logo refresh moves faster than a new identity with a full roll-out, and the biggest variable is usually how quickly decisions get made. Got a launch date? Tell us on the first call and we’ll plan backwards from it.

Before we start

  • Your current logo files, ideally the original vectors, even if they’re being replaced.
  • Brands you like and dislike, with a line on why. They needn’t be in your trade.
  • Your main competitors, so the new look stands apart from them.
  • Who your best customers are and why they choose you.
  • Every place the brand will appear: web, signs, vehicles, uniforms, print, social, radio.
  • Launch dates, and who signs off the final design.

Identities carried through live sites

Three client sites and our own. Open any of them and look for what repeats from page to page. See the full case studies.

LDC Radio homepage on a desktop screen

Community radio station, Leeds (97.8 FM, DAB, online)

LDC Radio

This is LDC’s own identity, and you’re looking at it. The logo comes in light and dark versions, and pages without their own picture get a generated, branded share image; show and DJ pages use the show’s or DJ’s own photo. The same name is heard on 97.8 FM, so it has to work read aloud too.

Paddick Engineering homepage on a desktop screen

Civil and structural engineering, Yorkshire

Paddick Engineering

Here the consistency is in the voice as much as the look. All seven project write-ups follow one pattern (the requirement, the engineering challenge, the solution, the outcome), the guides are written in plain English, and full sharing tags give every shared page a proper preview.

Questions

Branding Leeds questions

What’s the difference between a logo and a brand identity?

A logo is the mark itself. A brand identity is everything that makes your business recognisable: the logo in all its versions, the colours, the typefaces, the way you write and speak, and the rules that hold it together. With guidelines, it keeps looking like you, whoever makes the next flyer.

Do I need a rebrand or just a refresh?

Usually a refresh, if customers already know your name and the trouble is a dated look or files that break at small sizes. A full rebrand makes sense when the business itself has changed: a new name, new services, a new market or a merger. We’ll give you an honest view on the first call.

What files do I get at the end?

Every version of the logo we design, as vector files for print and signage and as SVG and PNG files for screens, plus the colour values, the typefaces and a guidelines document. Where they are in the agreed scope, you also get favicon and app icon sizes, social profile images, templates and an email signature.

How much does branding cost?

It depends on scope. A logo refresh is a smaller job than a full identity with guidelines, and an identity rolled out across a website, signage, vehicles and advertising is bigger again. Naming, the number of concepts and your deadline move the figure too. Tell us what you need and we’ll quote for an agreed scope after a short call.

Can my brand work on the radio as well as on screen?

Yes, and we can check it properly because we run a radio station. We listen to how your name sounds when a presenter reads it, whether the strapline fits into an advert, and what tone the voice and music should take. When you’re ready to book airtime, our advertising page has the full offer and audience figures.

Can you build my website with the new brand?

Yes. We design and build websites too, so the new identity goes straight into the site instead of being handed to a separate developer as a PDF. Favicons, share images, colours and type are set up during the build, and the same team can carry the brand into print, social and advertising.
