LDC offers web design across Yorkshire from one team in Leeds. We build websites for trades, professional firms and specialist businesses that serve customers in more than one town, and we plan every site around the services and places you genuinely cover.
The site you’re reading is our own work. Further down you can open it alongside three others we’ve built for very different businesses. To talk it through, call 07540725926 or send an enquiry.
Distance makes very little difference to how a website gets made. Most of our projects run by phone, email and video call, with a preview link you click through on your own phone before anything goes live.
We have one base: our registered office in Mabgate, Leeds. There are no branches elsewhere and we won’t pretend otherwise. If you’re in Leeds we can meet here. Further afield we’ll usually talk by phone or video call, and we can talk about meeting in person if the project needs it.
We work with businesses across West Yorkshire in Bradford, Wakefield, Huddersfield and Halifax, up to York and Harrogate in the north, down to Sheffield and Doncaster in the south, and over to Hull in the east.
Websites for businesses across Yorkshire and beyond
Each of these sites handles place differently, because each business serves a different patch. Open them and see how they deal with the towns and regions they cover. The longer write-ups are under our work.
Chimney sweeping and servicing, Yorkshire
CY Sweeps and Service
A Yorkshire chimney sweep that covers many towns without a single town page. Most of its inner page titles, and its headings, are written for Yorkshire, and the places it serves are named in its meta descriptions and page copy instead, while every fireplace and stove type has a page of its own. A lighter structure that suits a trade people call for one clear job.
An engineering practice with five town pages, from Leeds to Harrogate. Each one lists the services available there, answers local questions and links to nearby areas and recent work in that town, and the practice’s structured data names the same areas it serves.
UK planning application data (subscription service)
Planning Insights
A national subscription business with no town pages at all, because its customers could be anywhere in the UK. The site is organised around searches instead, with a long landing page for people wanting to view planning applications near them, complete with a how-to section and FAQs.
Community radio station, Leeds (97.8 FM, DAB, online)
LDC Radio
Our own site serves a city and a region at once. Local dance events cover Leeds and Bradford, the community section carries Yorkshire guides to nightlife, eating out and things to do, and the station’s structured data lists the places it serves.
Start with services, then add places only where you have something real to say. Customers search for the job and their own town, so a business that works across several towns needs one clear page for every service it genuinely offers.
A town page earns its place when it carries things true of that town: work you’ve done there, local questions, the areas nearby. The sites below show two ways of handling it, and SEO across Yorkshire explains where Google draws the line.
What about ‘near me’ searches?
Nobody needs to type ‘near me’ into their pages, because search engines work out where the searcher is. What you control is a clear service page, an accurate Google Business Profile and a site that says plainly which areas you serve.
What every site includes
Whichever town you’re in, the build is the same. Every site we design for a Yorkshire business comes with these.
Mobile-first design
Pages are designed for a phone first, since that’s where most local customers will find you, then widened for desktop.
Content you can edit
Change text, photos and opening details without calling us, or leave the updates to us if you’d rather.
Service and location structure
A page for each service, and area pages only where they’re useful, all planned before any design starts.
Forms and click-to-call
Every page gives visitors a way to act: a number they can tap and a short form that tells you what the enquiry is about.
Technical SEO foundations
Unique titles and descriptions, canonical tags, structured data about your business and an XML sitemap, all set in the code.
Speed and accessibility basics
Images sized for the screen, readable text and contrast, and headings in a sensible order, checked before launch.
Domain and logins
We agree up front who holds the domain and logins, along with the hosting, so there are no surprises later.
How a project runs when you’re not in Leeds
Every stage works at a distance. You watch the site take shape on your own screen, and you always know what we need from you next.
1
First call
A phone or video call about what you do, which towns and services matter most, and what a useful enquiry would be for your business.
2
Sitemap and content plan
We share a document listing every page, what it’s for and who writes it. You comment in your own time and sign it off before design begins.
3
Design draft on a link
You get a link to the draft. Open it on your phone and your laptop, send your notes, and we revise it until it’s right.
4
Build and test
The approved design becomes a working site on a preview address. Forms, call buttons, speed and the search basics are checked on real devices.
5
Launch
The site goes live on your domain. If it replaces an older one, each old address is redirected to its new page so existing links keep working.
6
Aftercare
After launch we check that everything is behaving. If you’d like us to keep looking after the site, we can agree what that covers.
Call us or get a quote
Talk it through with LDC on the phone, or send a few lines and we’ll come back to you with a quote.
Your postcode doesn’t come into it: you pay for the work. These are the things that move a quote.
Pages, and who writes them
More services and more area pages mean more to plan, design and write. Sending finished copy yourself keeps that part smaller.
Features
Booking, customer portals, subscriptions or live data each need their own planning, building and testing.
Integrations
Connecting the site to a CRM, accounts package, mailing list or booking tool depends on what those systems allow. Our web development page covers that side.
E-commerce
Selling online adds products, checkout, payments and delivery rules, and every one of them has to be tested.
Photography and branding
Real photos and a settled logo make design quicker. If either needs creating first, that becomes part of the plan.
Hosting and support
If you want us to host the site or keep it updated after launch, we’ll talk that through and agree it separately.
Tell us what the site has to do and which towns you cover, and we’ll price it. Call 07540725926 or send an enquiry.
Before we start
A list of the services you offer and the towns you really cover, not the ones you’d like to.
Your best customers, and the words they would type into Google to find someone like you.
Your logo and brand colours, in the best files you have.
Photos of real jobs, your team or your vans, rather than stock images.
Logins for your current website, domain and hosting, or the name of whoever looks after them.
Two or three competitors whose websites you rate, and what you rate about them.
The one thing you most want a visitor to do: ring you, fill in a form or book.
Selling beyond your own town
Some Yorkshire businesses sell to customers they’ll never meet, anywhere in the UK. For them, the website is organised around what people search for rather than where they live.
Planning Insights is our example. It sells planning application data nationally, so its pages are written around searches like ‘view planning applications’ and ‘UK planning data’, with a long landing page that explains the service and answers common questions. Town pages would add nothing there. SEO across Yorkshire goes deeper into national and regional search.
Radio has a narrower footprint. The station is on 97.8 FM, licensed for the City of Leeds, with DAB in Leeds & Bradford, and it’s online, on the app and on Alexa for everyone else. So for a launch aimed at Leeds or Bradford, an on-air campaign can point listeners at your new site. Across the rest of the county, search and social media do that job.
Questions
Web design Yorkshire questions
Do you work with businesses outside Leeds?
Yes. We’re based in Leeds and build websites for businesses all over the county, East Riding included. Planning, design reviews and sign-off all happen by phone, email, video call and preview links, so a client in Harrogate or Sheffield gets exactly the same process as one down the road from Mabgate.
Should I have a page for every town I cover?
Only where you can make each page genuinely useful. A town page should carry something true about that place, such as jobs you’ve done there, local questions or the areas nearby. If all you can change is the town name, you’re better off naming your areas on a strong service page and putting the effort into your Google Business Profile.
Is a Leeds web designer dearer than one in my town?
Not because of where we are. A quote reflects the work: how many pages, who writes them, and features such as booking, subscriptions or a shop. Working at a distance adds nothing to that, since most projects run on calls and shared links anyway. Tell us what you need and we’ll give you a clear quote.
Can you restructure the site I already have, or does it need replacing?
Often it can be restructured. If your site is sound but one page is trying to cover every service and town, we can split it into proper service pages and add area pages where you have real work to show, keeping the addresses that already bring visitors. If it is slow or hard to edit, rebuilding can cost less than patching it, and we’ll show you why before you decide.
Can I update the website myself?
Yes, if you want to. We can set the site up so you change text, photos and opening details without touching any code, and we show you how before handover. If you’d rather not, we can make the changes for you. Tell us at the start which suits you, because it affects how the site is built.
Will a new website help me show up on Google in my town?
It helps, but nobody can promise where Google will place you. A clear page for each service, honest area pages, accurate business details and a well-kept Google Business Profile give search engines what they need to connect you with local searches. We build those foundations in, and our Yorkshire SEO page covers the ongoing work.
